Leading Australian and New Zealand smart metering provider and energy data specialists the Intellihub Group has today announced the appointment of Alastair McKeown as its Chief Financial Officer.
Mr McKeown has more than two decades experience in leadership and senior finance roles across the energy sector in Australia and the UK.
He is currently the Chief Financial Officer at EnergyAustralia, a position he has held for more than six years. Prior to that, he worked as the CFO at Victoria’s largest electricity distribution network CitiPower and Powercor and was Finance Director with the UK headquartered multinational gas and electricity business Centrica.
Mr McKeown is a chartered accountant and held senior finance roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Intellihub CEO Wes Ballantine said Mr McKeown’s significant industry and finance experience would be a terrific addition to Intellihub’s leadership team.
“We are extremely pleased to have someone of Alastair’s experience and capability joining the business,” Mr Ballantine said.
“Intellihub is continuing to grow its smart metering business and explore new ways to help our retail customers better control and manage the gigawatts of behind the meter consumer energy resources across Australia and New Zealand.
“Alastair’s knowledge and experience across the energy, finance, strategy and transformation areas will add great value to our business and for our customers.”
Intellihub manages and operates more than 1.8 million smart meters across Australia and New Zealand on behalf of electricity retailers.
Intellihub recently acquired leading energy technology company GreenSync and the assets of Australia’s first digital pool management and monitoring business Pooled.
GreenSync developed the cloud based DER interoperability software known as deX – or decentralised energy exchange.
DeX is a digital platform that enables DER registration, near real-time visibility and the control and data management required for Virtual Power Plant (VPP) participation.
Pooled is an online pool services business that installs sensors and a smart controller to pool equipment and uses machine learning to automate the management and monitoring of backyard swimming pools.
Intellihub was also recently awarded funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency to roll out 50 street side electric vehicle chargers under a trial targeting EV owners without off street parking.
