Pool Energy Management
Pools can use up to 30-40% of a home’s energy consumption. With over 1.3 million homes with pools in Australia alone, acquiring Pooled, a smart swimming pool tech company, was an important step in our strategic expansion into virtual power plant capabilities. We hope to expand this offering to New Zealand soon too.
Smart pool monitoring and control
Pooled's pool energy management offering uses sensors and an Intelligent Pool Controller to optimise electricity use and reduce energy costs based on factors like electricity pricing and solar output.
How does smart pool automation work?
Step 01
Installation
and setup
The installation service includes a pool controller, sensors and speed control for existing filter pumps. Customers can access an app for updates on the pool's condition and energy usage.
Step 02
Control and
optimisation
The automation monitors and controls the pool systems, optimising energy and chemical use. Any maintenance needs are sent to the customer via alerts in the app.
Step 03
Customers save
money and energy
Not only does the system reduce electricity use, it also eliminates the need to visit pool shops for water testing. Less time maintaining pools, more time enjoying sparkling clean water.
Pool automation and VPP technology
One in seven Australian households owns a pool - one of the highest rates per capita in the world. Combined with the enthusiastic national uptake of residential solar PV installation and innovative virtual power plant technology now available, there’s a significant opportunity for energy providers.
